Railroad Days

Granite Falls is a small community, but once a year everyone comes together for a little event in town called "Railroad Days." Little carnival rides, Concession stands, and much more. The town even throws in a parade.  Many companies and local organizations promote their name, and with doing so they do that by creating a float or walk in the parade.
Great spirit from the Crossroads students at the parade
Gathering around laughing
and having fun during the
parade

Here at Crossroads the kids in leadership, ASB, and the Theater & Makeup class joined together to come up with a candy themed float for our school. For several weeks kids have been creating large candy, and decorations for the 40 ft. trailer covered front to back in candy and a gingerbread house. Students made sure to arrive early to recreate themselves into their candy themed characters. With students walking to the destination of their float spot in the middle of town, there were lots of parade participants with their floats, decorations, and outfits. Once the parade starts there is a set of judges who got to choose the best float of them all. Take a guess at who the 1st place winner was? Crossroads! We had the best float! The excitement we had when we found out was beyond what you could ever imagine. If you didn't end up going to Railroad Days, you should know it was truly fun.
